BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU baseball team will participate in the Buddy Walk on Saturday in Baton Rouge, as the Tigers continue to perform active roles in philanthropic events.
LSU players will take part in the Buddy Walk from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at Healing Place Church, located at 19202 Highland Road. The Buddy Walk is designed to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.
“LSU Baseball has a long history of supporting the Buddy Walk,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri, “and our players look forward to participating with the children affected by Down Syndrome. The players realize that they have the ability to impact the lives of others in a positive way, and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to devote their efforts to a great cause.”
Mainieri has established an vibrant community service function within the baseball program, as the Tigers regularly visit hospitals and schools in Baton Rouge. The team also played an active role in August in providing assistance to those affected by the flooding in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
