Volleyball Takes on No. 9 Florida

BATON ROUGE – Fresh off two Southeastern Conference road wins against Ole Miss and Georgia, the LSU volleyball team (7-10, 2-4 SEC) returns home to take on No. 9 Florida (14-2, 4-1 SEC) at 7 p.m. CT Friday inside the Maravich Center.

The matchup between the Tigers and Razorbacks will be aired live on SEC Network+ through WatchESPN.com and the app with Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard on the call for the broadcast.

Last Time Out
LSU traveled to Athens and finished with a season-best .325 hitting percentage and season-low 11 attacking errors for its second conference win of the season. The Tigers allowed just 13 points in the opening set for a season best. Junior Gina Tillis led the way with 15 kills and freshman setter Anna Zwiebel had her most complete match of the season with 40 assists. The victory over the Bulldogs was the 19th win for the Tigers in the last 22 matches overall.

A Look at Florida
The Gators are 14-2 and 4-1 in conference with their losses coming to top-ranked Nebraska and No. 23 Kentucky. Last time out, Florida swept South Carolina for its second straight three-set victory in SEC play. Three-time All-American Alex Holston leads the way for Florida in kills with 3.74 per set and is ranked seventh in the league. Rachel Kramer leads the country in hitting efficiency at .538 and Allie Monserez tops the nation in assists per set at 12.30. As a squad, the Gators rank in the top-15 in the nation in hitting efficiency (1st), blocks per set (10th) and assists per set (14th).

Team Notes
>> With the victory against Georgia, LSU swept an opponent for the second time this season.

>> The Tigers earned their second Southeastern Conference win of the season thanks to a season-best .325 hitting percentage and season-low 11 attacking errors.

>> LSU’s .325 hitting percentage marked the first time the Tigers have hit over .300 in a match since November 2014. LSU also hit over .500 in a set for the second time this season.

>> The Bulldogs scored just 13 points in the opening set Sunday, which marked the fewest points allowed by LSU in a set this season.

>> Junior Gina Tillis is just two kills shy of reaching 200 for the season at 3.19 kills per set. Tillis’ 184 digs are second on the team and the Texas native owns eight double-doubles on the season.

>> Middle blocker Olivia Beyer has been a strong part of LSU’s lineup the last two matches off the bench against Ole Miss and as a starter against Georgia. Beyer knocked in a career-best nine kills against the Bulldogs.

>> Freshman Anna Zwiebel has 523 assists for the Tigers this season along with 15 service aces and 136 digs. The setter’s 40 assists against Georgia were the most in a conference match this season.

>> Junior Cheyenne Wood is LSU’s libero and leads the way with 245 digs at 3.89 digs per set. Wood works with Kelly Quinn and Katie Kampen defensively for the Tigers with Quinn holding a spot in the starting lineup in the last seven matches. Against Georgia, Kampen finished with a career-high 12 digs.

>> The sweep over the Bulldogs was the Tigers’ second of the season and first against a conference opponent.

>> LSU is 3-2 in away matches this season and 2-1 in conference road matches.

>> The last win for LSU against Florida came in 2009 when the Tigers took a 3-1 win over the 11th-ranked Gators. LSU also swept Florida that season for LSU’s first win in 18 years.
