Soccer Receives NSCAA Team Academic Award

BATON ROUGE – For the sixth year in a row, the LSU Soccer team has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its outstanding academic performance with the NSCAA Team Academic Award while maintaining a 3.28 cumulative team grade-point average during the 2015-16 academic year.

The Tigers were also honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award in each of the last five years since 2011, and have earned the award for the 10th time in the program’s history.

The NSCAA announced Thursday morning that a total of 892 college soccer programs have been honored as award recipients this year after posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the past year. That includes a total of 315 men’s programs and 577 women’s programs honored for their academic efforts in 2015-16.

The NSCAA has recognized nine of the SEC’s 14 women’s soccer programs with this year’s Team Academic Award as the Tigers join the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Programs omitted from this year’s list of award winners include Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
