Volleyball Continues Weekend with Missouri

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team (5-9, 0-3 SEC) continues its Southeastern Conference home weekend at 1 p.m. CT Sunday against Missouri (12-3, 3-0 SEC) inside the Maravich Center.

The matchup between the Tigers will be aired live on the SEC Network as well as streamed online through WatchESPN.com and the app.

Match Promotions
Sunday is Mike’s Kids Club Day and the first 100 fans to enter the Maravich Center will have the opportunity to take a picture with the team after the match. Fare reminded that admission to all home matches is FREE and of the new Geaux Clear policy.

Last Time Out
LSU took the opening set over Texas A&M but the Aggies gained control and never looked back, winning 3-1. Texas A&M hit .344 overall in the match, including more than .350 in the final three sets. The winning squad also limited its errors to 14 for the entire match. LSU hit .074 for all four sets and committed 28 total errors. LSU dropped to 3-1 in matches in which it won the first set. The Tigers are still in sought of their first home and conference win this season.

A Look at Missouri
The Tigers own a 12-3 record and 3-0 mark in conference play for first place in the league with Kentucky. Missouri own conference wins over South Carolina and Ole Miss and most recently defeated Arkansas in three sets. Mizzou ranks in the top five in the conference in hitting percentage, kills, assists and is second in the league in blocks. Melanie Crow leads the way for the Tigers with 216 kills. The redshirt junior is fifth in the league in kills and leads the way in service aces.

Team Notes
>> As a defense, the Tigers are third in the league in digs with 776 at 14.64 digs per set. Individually, Cheyenne Wood is seventh in the league in digs.

>> Tillis continues to lead the way for LSU with 171 kills at 3.31 kills per set. Tillis owns six double-doubles on the season with the last coming at Auburn in the conference opener. The junior has finished as the team’s leader in kills in 12 of 14 matches.

>> At middle blocker, Tiara Gibson is also in the three-digit kills category with 110 total. The senior leads the squad with 44 total blocks on the season.

>> Junior Khourtni Fears and freshman Sydney Mukes are closing in on 100 kills at 92 and 91 respectively. Fears has seven service aces and has 40 blocks for the season.

>> Anna Zwiebel has made the start in every match at setter. Zwiebel owns 418 assists on the season. The freshman has split some time with Lindsay Flory lately with Flory at 98 assists.

>> Junior Kelly Quinn and Cheyenne Wood have been the leaders as defensive specialists this season. Wood has held on as the squad’s libero with 194 digs. Quinn owns 127 digs and 10 service aces.
