Volleyball Returns for SEC Weekend

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team (5-8, 0-2 SEC) returns to its home court for a weekend of Southeastern Conference matches beginning at 7 p.m. CT Friday when the Tigers take on Texas A&M (7-6, 1-1 SEC) inside the Maravich Center.

The matchup between the Tigers and Aggies will be aired live on SEC Network+ through WatchESPN.com and the app with Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard on the call for the broadcast.

Match Promotions
Friday is the STRIPES reunion match for students who attended the program in the summer. In addition, the first 500 LSU students will receive free food in the annual “Serve It Up BBQ” prior to the match. Fare reminded that admission to all home matches is FREE and of the new Geaux Clear policy.

Last Time Out
LSU lost its second SEC match when the Tigers fell in straight sets to Arkansas on Sunday. The Razorbacks hit 374 with 47 kills in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-14 win over LSU. Gina Tillis led the way with 11 kills in the match for her ninth double-digit kill match of the season. Lindsay Flory saw significant playing time as the setter with 15 assists.

A Look at the Aggies
Texas A&M is coming off of a sweep over Auburn in College Station. The Aggies received votes in the latest AVCA poll released this week. In 13 matches this season, Texas A&M has played five ranked opponents, including three in the top-10. Texas A&M has four player in triple digits with two more players above 90 kills. Kiara McGee leads the way for the squad with 143 kills at 3.11 kills per set.

Team Notes
>> Tillis continues to lead the way for LSU with 162 kills at 3.31 kills per set. Tillis owns six double-doubles on the season with the last coming at Auburn in the conference opener. The junior has played in every set and has started every match for the Tiger this season.

>> At middle blocker, Tiara Gibson is also in the three-digit kills category with 101 total. The senior leads the squad with 43 total blocks on the season.

>> Junior Khourtni Fears and freshman Sydney Mukes are closing in on 100 kills at 83 and 88 respectively. Fears owns six service aces and has 39 blocks for the season.

>> Anna Zwiebel has made the start in every match at setter. Zwiebel owns 395 assists on the season. The freshman has split some time with Lindsay Flory lately with Flory at 93 assists.
>> Junior Kelly Quinn and Cheyenne Wood have been the leaders as defensive specialists this season. Wood has held on as the squad’s libero with 180 digs. Quinn owns 123 digs and nine service aces.
