Volleyball Returns to Action with FSU

BATON ROUGE – After ending its three-match win streak against Baylor on Wednesday, the LSU volleyball team (5-5) returns to action at 1 p.m. Sunday against No. 13 Florida State inside the Maravich Center.

Head coach Fran Flory and the program welcome more than 70 alumnae, including the 1986 SEC Championship team and 1991 Final Four team back to Baton Rouge. Both the ’86 and ’91 teams will also be presented between the first and second quarter of Saturday’s football game against Mississippi State.

Match Promotions
In celebration of National Cheeseburger Day, fans will have the opportunity to purchase $3 cheeseburgers at the match. All matches are FREE to the public, and fans are reminded of the Geaux Clear policy aimed to speed up gate entries and enhance fan safety.

Last Match
LSU dropped its midweek match to Baylor Wednesday in the Maravich Center. The Bears outhit LSU .260-.147 in the match with LSU committing 20 errors to Baylor’s 15. LSU was outblocked as well with Baylor winning the battle at the net 9.0-5.0. After dropping the first two sets, the Tigers bounced back in the third with a strong showing but ultimately fell 26-24 to drop the match.

A Look at the Florida State Seminoles
The 13th-ranked Seminoles are coming off the loss at the hands of seventh-ranked Florida on Wednesday. FSU owns a 6-2 record, which includes wins over common opponents in UCF, Texas A&M, Alabama and Baylor. FSU is led in kills by Milica Kubura at 93 and an average of 2.91 per set.

Team Notes
>> Freshman Jacqui Armer hit .700 with eight kills on 10 attempts. Armer became the first LSU player to hit .700 in a match since 2014. Five of Armer’s eight kills came in the third set..

>> Freshman Anna Zwiebel tallied her third double-double of the season with 25 assists and 10 digs against the Bears. Zwiebel leads the Tigers in assists and is tied for the most service aces on the season.

>> Junior Gina Tillis leads the squad with 125 kills at 3.29 kills per set. She is also second on the team in digs with 106 at 2.79 digs per set.

>> This marks the final non-conference match of the season for LSU. The Tigers open conference play on Friday, Sept. 23 at Auburn.
