BATON ROUGE, La. — Former LSU All-American Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros has been named the 2016 USA TODAY Minor League Player of the Year.
Bregman blasted 20 homers and posted a .986 on-base plus slugging percentage in the minor leagues prior to being called up to the Astros’ big-league roster on July 25.
In his last 30 games with the Astros, Bregman is hitting .325 with seven homers and a .969 OPS.
