Baseball Players Named to All-Star Teams

BATON ROUGE, La. – Six LSU baseball players have been named this month to their respective summer collegiate league All-Star teams.

Earning All-Star recognition are senior infielder Cole Freeman and junior infielder Bryce Jordan (Cape Cod League); senior pitcher Collin Strall (Northwoods League); sophomore infielder Trey Dawson (Alaska League); and incoming freshmen infielders Josh Smith (Prospect League) and Jake Slaughter (Cal Ripken League).

Freeman is batting .387 (29-for-75) in 19 games this summer for the Wareham (Mass.) Gatemen with five doubles, 14 runs, four RBI and 10 stolen bases. Jordan is batting .400 (22-for-55) in 21 games for the Brewster (Mass.) Whitecaps with six doubles, nine runs, nine RBI and five hit-by-pitches.

Freeman and Jordan will play in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET in Chatham, Mass.

Strall, a right-hander, has a 0.95 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the St. Cloud (Minn.) Rox. He has worked 37.2 innings, allowing just four earned runs on 27 hits with seven saves, 12 walks and 31 strikeouts.

Dawson is hitting .281 (18-for-64) in 20 games for the Peninsula (Alaska) Oilers with four doubles, two homers and seven RBI.

Smith, a product of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, is batting .348 (39-for-112) in 35 games for the Danville (Ill.) Dans with seven doubles, one triple, two homers, 16 RBI. 23 runs and 19 stolen bases.

Slaughter, a product of Ouachita Christian High in Monroe, La., is hitting .274 (29-for-106) in 31 games for the Gaithersburg (Md.) Giants with eight doubles, two homers, 17 runs and 18 RBI.
