BATON ROUGE – With Orlando and Utah concluding their respective summer league sessions, attention now focuses on the largest summer league session, the 24-team Las Vegas Summer League beginning Friday night.
Orlando concluded its play earlier Friday and Charlotte with former LSU point guard Tim Quarterman played its final game. Quarterman had 12 points, eight rebounds and one assist in a 97-92 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. For the five games, Quarterman averaged 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists and was 10-of-24 from the field. Charlotte will not participate in Las Vegas.
Top draft pick and LSU A-A Ben Simmons and his Philadelphia 76ers will also play in Las Vegas after the 76ers took part in the Utah league. Simmons was able to play in two of those games, missing the second one after suffering with dehydration and cramps at the end of game one. In those two games, Simmons averaged 8.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
The 76ers will make their Las Vegas debut on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. CT against the Los Angeles Lakers in a game to be televised by ESPN2.
The Boston Celtics are also set to go in the Las Vegas league. Second-year pro and former LSU player Jordan Mickey has been back in Boston rehabbing a shoulder problem and could see action before the summer league is over.
All of the games for the Las Vegas League are available on either NBATV or WatchESPN with several games televised on the ESPN networks over the course of the event which runs through July 18.
