BATON ROUGE, La. – Through a joint partnership with Business Photos America and Kyros Group, the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes has become one of the first student-athlete centered learning facilities in the country that can offer a virtual tour of the entire building using Google Street View Trusted technology to aid in recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
With 54,000 square feet of learning space, including classrooms, a lecture hall and multiple study rooms, the CCACSA will now be able to give tours of the facility anywhere in the world through the new technology that will highlight the building like never before. The virtual tour can be accessed directly through Google and Google Maps from anywhere in the world, in a user-driven experience that makes it feel as though you are actually walking through the space.
“We are extremely excited to have this partnership with Business Photos America and Kyros Group. This allows us to welcome everyone to our world through using Google Street View Technology,” CCACSA Executive Director Kenneth Miles said. “We are one of the very first academic centers for student-athletes to use this technology, and we, within the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes pride ourselves on being the leader in transformative education by leveraging education through technology.”
Assisting with this project was LSU graduate and current Google Certified Corporate Outreach Agent Erryca Robicheaux, who helped spring the project to life and bring the academic center into a new world.
“As an LSU alumna who attended classes in the center, it was especially exciting to work on this project. The passion that Kenneth and his entire team have for ensuring the overall success of every LSU student-athlete is evident, and their innovative and forward thinking is a huge part of that,” Robicheaux said. “The student-athletes at LSU are lucky to have a team of people and a University willing to invest in new technology to contribute to their success both on the field and in the classroom. We are excited to continue to work with LSU in both their athletics and academic facilities.”
For the more than 530 LSU student-athletes that already call the academic center another home on campus, the virtual tour will bring in the next crop of academic honorees and athletic pioneers for years to come.
“Being a student-athlete at a school that not only cares deeply about my athletic success but also my academic success is so rewarding. At the CCACSA, our double title is respected and we get all the help we can get,” LSU swimmer Caley Oquist said. “Everybody in the building wants us to succeed in every aspect, in competition, academics and community, and we know that from all the technology and continuous growth of our academic center.”
