Favre, Spears to Headline Football Coaches Clinic

BATON ROUGE – NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre along with former LSU all-America Marcus Spears will be two of the headline speakers at this year’s LSU Football Coaches Clinic, which takes place March 31-April 2 on the LSU campus.

The coaches clinic starts on Thursday, March 31 and concludes with the LSU football scrimmage in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, April 2. The cost of the clinic is $65. Coaches can register online at http://www.lsucamp.com/ or by calling the LSU Football Office at 225.578.1151.

Favre, a native of Gulfport, Miss., and a graduate of Southern Miss, finished his NFL career as one of the most successful quarterbacks in league history. He earned the Associated Press Most Valuable Player Award three times, played in the Pro Bowl 11 times, and led the Packers two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl XXXI.

Favre will speak to the coaches at 11:15 a.m. on Friday on the main floor at the Maravich Center.

Spears, who helped LSU to the 2003 national title and later went on to become a first round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys, opens the clinic on Thursday night when he addresses the coaches at 7:30 at the Maravich Center. LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda follows Spears on stage that night with an 8:30 presentation.

The LSU Football Coaches Clinic will give participants an opportunity to see the Tigers practice on Thursday, March 31 and then watch an LSU scrimmage on Saturday, April 2. There will be a barbeque social for the coaches on Thursday night followed by a crawfish boil on Friday evening.
