BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU (3-2), currently ranked 37th in the nation, hopes to carry their momentum from their last two matches into Friday’s competition against No. 75 North Florida (2-6) at 5 p.m. at the LSU Tennis Complex.
“We are looking to build off last weekend,” Head Coach Jeff Brown said. “It’s good to get back on the courts quicker this time after playing with such a long break between our last matches. We’ve got quite a few in a row that are coming up so we are picking up where we left off last weekend and using it to move forward and continue to build our confidence.”
The LSU duo of Jordan Daigle and Boris Arias jumped eight places in this week’s rankings to the No. 17 spot but still trail behind the North Florida pair of Jack Findel-Hawkins and Yannick Zuern who are ranked No. 8.
In last week’s competition, LSU’s Justin Butsch shined in both matches clinching on courts two and one respectively. The Tigers also saw some playing time from newcomer Nikola Samardzic in their match against Nicholls where he and Butsch clinched the doubles point.
North Florida has played a tough schedule with four of their losses coming from top 50 opponents. The last time these two teams met, in Baton Rouge, LSU came out 4-0 over the Ospreys.
