BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU beach volleyball No. 1 pair Mandi Orellana and Katie Lindelow were selected to the 2016 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Preseason All-Conference Team, the CCSA announced Wednesday.
The duo was among 10 student-athletes who were voted to the inaugural preseason team that is voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Five schools posted two student-athletes each on the All-Conference team, while all eight teams were represented on the 2016 CCSA Beach Volleyball Watch List.
Senior Cati Leak was also one of eight players who made the watch list. Leak partnered with Callan Molle to post a 19-4 record last season, including a 5-3 record against ranked opponents. Leak and Molle are also riding a five match win streak dating back to last year.
“I think last year they had a great year. All three of them,” said associate head coach Russell Brock. “That recognition carried over to this year. I think it’s awesome to be honored, and I think that says a lot about what they’ve done last year and sets them up to have an even better season this year. They’re definitely going to use this to kind of stoke their fire to be even better.”
Orellana, a sophomore from Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Lindelow, a senior from Mandeville, combined for a 19-9 record at the No. 1 spot, where the duo recorded eight victories against Top-20 opponents, including four wins against Top-10 teams.
