BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU swimmers Danielle Stirrat and Logan Rysemus have been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for their efforts in the Baton Rouge area, the league announced Tuesday.
Stirrat is a senior leader on the women’s team. The Wales native is LSU’s nominee for the SEC Brad Davis Community Service Award. The award is given to an outstanding male and female athlete for meritorious service during their undergraduate college career.
The psychology major, graduating in May 2016, volunteers at the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center. Stirrat has also served the community as an assistant at Charlies Place Alzheimer’s Services and at the sickle cell sundae and Christmas party.
Rysemus is the nominee for the men’s team. The team captain has worked in the community since stepping on campus, specifically volunteering for programs like Halloween Boozar, Thanksgiving with the Tiger and Christmas with the Tigers.
Rysemus has also participated in service events like the sickle cell sundae and Christmas party, Geaux Big, senior citizen visits, freshman move-in day and friends of the animals Baton Rouge.
Both Rysemus and Stirrat have been a main-stay in the pool during their time in Baton Rouge. Stirrat set the 21st-fastest 200 free time in the country at the Texas A&M Invite. The senior swam the second-fastest 200 back time in school history (1:55.18) at the midseason meet
Rysemus is 13th in the country in the 100 fly (46.41) and 18th in the 100 back (46.61). Already this season, Rysemus has set the second-fastest 100 back and fourth-fastest 100 fly time in school history. The Tacoma, Washington native is looking to improve off of one ‘B’ final and two ‘C’ final appearances at conference last season.
