BATON ROUGE – LSU’s Ben Simmons was named the Freshman of the Week for the third time Monday by the Southeastern Conference office.

It marked the third time the Australian was named Freshman of the Week by the league. He also has one league Player of the Week citation as well.

Simmons averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and seven assists in wins over Auburn and Mississippi State. With 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists against Auburn, Simmons posted his third 20-10-5 game of the season and his 16th double-double.

He registered 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and two steals. His back-to-back seven assist games were the 13th and 14th time he has had five or more assists in a game. It was the 12th game over 20 points this year. On the week he shot 61.5 percent (16-of-26) from the field on the week.
