BATON ROUGE, La. – With a weekend’s worth of home events scheduled on campus in the coming days, LSU athletics will be hosting the first-ever “Mardi Gras Mambeaux Parade” to get the word out featuring student-athletes from various LSU sports on Thursday, February 4, beginning at 12 p.m.
Featuring golf carts decorated by the student-athletes, the event will begin at the corner of South Stadium Drive and Tower Drive, continuing through Tower Drive before ending at the corner of Tower and Dalrymple.
A host of coaches and student-athletes from the various Tiger and Lady Tiger squads will be led by a brass band, presented by KLSU, through the streets of LSU, being joined by Mike the Tiger and the LSU Cheerleaders. The parade participants will have throws on hand including beads, t-shirts and other items.
The parade is open to all students, faculty and staff, as the event serves as a precursor to the women’s basketball team’s game against Mississippi State later that night. Also this weekend, sixth-ranked gymnastics is home to host No. 8 Arkansas on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., ending the home slate with men’s basketball taking on Mississippi State Saturday at 5 p.m.
