Volleyball Signees Named HS All-Americans

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU volleyball signees Sydney Mukes and Anna Zwiebel were recently named High School All-Americans, with both making the cut according to PrepVolleyball.com and Zwiebel also landing on the Volleyball Magazine list.

After sifting through hundreds of nominees, Mukes and Zwiebel were considered two of the top 150 players in the nation after last season by PrepVolleyball.com, which also included three honorable mention lists, totaling over 500 prep volleyball players honored and earning recognition. Zwiebel was one of 24 players selected by Volleyball Magazine, earning a spot on the Girls’ High School All-America second team.

Mukes, a six-foot outside hitter, recently led Mount Notre Dame to a third-straight Ohio High School Athletic Association championship last November. She was named the Cincinnati Enquirer Co-Player of the Year, leading the league in kills with 306, while being a second-team all-state selection this season and third-team all-state pick in 2014 when she had 271 kills.

Zwiebel, the 2015 Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Region 7 Player of the Year had over 940 assists for the Sacred Heart Academy Valkyries to go along with more than 220 digs and 20 service aces this past season, while also earning all-state honors. Zwiebel is also a perfect 4.0 student and has been awarded an academic all-state honor three times.
