BATON ROUGE, La. – In 2015, more than 69,000 fans attended 43 LSU softball home games as the team went on to earn a trip to the Women’s College World Series for the fourth time in program history. With fan support at a record high, enhancements were made to Tiger Park to give LSU fans one of the best collegiate softball experiences in the country.
One of the biggest changes to the park was the re-development of the outfield berm that soon became a fan-favorite after the park was opened in 2009. After last season, the berm was redone to make it safer and accessible for all fans – all 960 – that will come out to LSU regular season games in 2016 and sit in the brand-new Tiger Park Terrace.
Now, there is a walkway and steps that lead to the area that begins just before the left field foul pole and goes all the way into left center, stopping just short of reaching dead center. Previously, the berm began before the foul pole because the resulting corner was too steep for fans to sit or stand. The lower area of the terrace has space right before the upper level of the outfield fence, with a middle and upper section.
The renovation of the area will allow for more opportunities for concessions as events arise. There is also the option of adding overflow bleachers for games that could be in high demand.
Fans with Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets include admission to the Tiger Park Terrace, as well as bleacher seating on a first-come, first serve basis.
For those looking to rent out the Clubhouse Deck, they are asked to contact the LSU Ticket Office for more information.
With LSU and Tiger Park being featured more prominently on television since the creation of the SEC Network, enhancements were also added for our TV friends as well with the creation of permanent camera platforms built in a section that is level and just above the top of the home and visiting team dugouts. When LSU is playing in front of a live and national television viewing audience, the areas will have manned cameras getting every aspect of the park such as the redesigned All-American Wall near the Party Deck, Tiger Park Terrace and the Clubhouse Deck.
LSU is scheduled to have six games televised between the SEC Network and ESPN family of networks this season.
