BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 30 LSU men’s tennis team (1-1) travels to face the No. 58 Rice Owls at noon Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
“It will be good to see where we are having played a couple matches, getting back on the road playing a very talented opponent,” Head Coach Jeff Brown said. “The guys are excited to see their improvements and usually there’s a big difference from the first weekend to the second.”
LSU is familiar with the Rice team. Most recently, the two teams competed at the LSU Tennis Invitational in November. At the invitational, the Tiger duo of Tam Trinh and Justin Butsch took down David Warren and Adam Gustafsson in doubles, 6-3. Freshman Cameron Andry also defeated Henrik Munch in singles play for the Tigers.
Last season, LSU defeated Rice 6-1 at home. Five of last year’s six singles courts return for LSU in this season’s matchup, including Jordan Daigle who secured a 6-3, 6-4 win on court one last year.
Daigle is leading the Tigers at No. 22 in singles as well as taking the No. 13 spot in doubles with partner Boris Arias.
