ATHENS, Ga – Senior Cassie Weil turned in a score of 324.50 to earn the win on the three-meter springboard Tuesday afternoon at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. The first place finish marked the seventh win of the season for the All-American.
Junior Andrew Suchla also had a strong showing for the men. Suchla finished fourth on one-meter with a score of 334.80.
By finishing in the top-six in their respective final, both Suchla and Weil advanced to the Bulldog Shootout tonight. The fun competition is head-to-head single elimination for the men and women. The diver with the lowest score is eliminated each round until there is one remaining.
“Andrew (Suchla) showed some progress on some things we have been working on,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “He did some very good lists today. Cassie (Weil) was also very solid throughout today’s competition. I’m pleased with today’s results, and I am looking forward to the shootout tonight.”
For the Lady Tigers, freshman Rileigh Knox finished 15th with a score of 252. Senior Allie Alter finished 17th with a score of 250.95.
During prelims of the men’s one-meter, Matthew Phillip finished 20th with a score of 252. Matt McClellan finished 26th with a score of 239.50.
