BATON ROUGE –The LSU men’s basketball team continued what is a long-standing holiday tradition by visiting the children’s hospital at Our Lady of The Lake in Baton Rouge.
The annual visit allows the players and coaches to interact with children, parents and the hard-working staff at the local health facility.
As always, the players sang Christmas carols in many of the patient rooms and even sang to a group of nurses at one of the stations on the floor. Coach Johnny Jones and the players autographed basketballs and posters for each of the rooms.
“I think it’s always great for our young men to have an opportunity to give back and be a part of something that we think is really special,” said Coach Jones. “To come out and be able to put some cheer in these young kid’s hearts and to see the smiles on their faces and their families means a great deal to us. It’s the least we can do at this time of the year to have an opportunity to come out and touch someone. It means a great deal to us and we are hopeful at the end of the day that this is going to make them at least have something to smile about.”
LSU plays again on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Gardner-Webb at the Maravich Center. Tickets are available at www.LSUtix.net.
