BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnastics coach D-D Breaux won the sixth annual turkey carving contest at St. Vincent de Paul downtown Wednesday.
Breaux carved the most turkeys followed by East Baton Rouge sheriff Sid Gautreaux in second and Father Joseph Landry in third.
Many dignitaries from the Baton Rouge area took part in the annual turkey carving contest that benefits local families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
St. Vincent de Paul fed more than 600 people in the local community on Thanksgiving Day and plan to feed 300 on Friday, 250 on Saturday and 400 on Sunday.
“I have so much fun volunteering at this event every year,” Breaux said. “It is important to me to give back to my community, and St. Vincent de Paul does an amazing job in putting together this great contest for a very worthy cause.”
LSU is gearing up for the Gymnastics 101 showcase event that will take place on Monday, Dec. 14 in the Maravich Center. The event will start at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free.
In addition, 2016 season tickets are available for purchase at www.LSUtix.net at a cost of $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12.
