BATON ROUGE – For the third straight year the LSU gymnastics team will give fans an early inside look at the Tigers by hosting the Gymnastics 101 showcase event on Monday, Dec. 14 in the Maravich Center.
Gymnastics 101 will begin at 6:30 p.m., and Maravich Center doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
The event serves as an exhibition meet because the team will run through lineups and perform routines on all four events beginning on vault and rotating to bars, beam and floor.
Judges will score routines as they would in a regular-season competition.
Gym 101 will also be an insightful and educational experience as head coach D-D Breaux and associate head coach Jay Clark will provide commentary about the gymnasts’ performances and routines throughout the event.
Team posters and schedule cards will be available for fans to pick up at the fan zone in the Maravich Center, and “Holy Cow” t-shirts will be passed out to all season ticket holders in attendance.
Gym 101 will mark the first competition-style event in the Maravich Center for LSU’s talented freshmen class that includes Lexie Priessman, Sarah Finnegan, McKenna Kelley, Julianna Cannamela and Kaitlyn Szafranski.
The Tigers return nine letterwinners from the 2015 squad, including All-Americans Sydney Ewing, Ashleigh Gnat, Myia Hambrick, Jessica Savona, Randii Wyrick and Shae Zamardi.
Season tickets are on sale at $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.LSUtix.net, calling the LSU Athletics Ticket Office at 225-578-2184 or in person on the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building on campus.
After Gym 101, LSU will continue preparation for the season opener against Oklahoma in the Maravich Center on Jan. 9.
