Golovin Earns Wins on First Day at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Freshman Jessica Golovin, of the LSU women’s tennis team, defeated Oklahoma’s Christie Brigante 6-4, 7-5 for her seventh singles victory of the fall Friday afternoon at the UNLV Invite.

In addition to her singles victory, Golovin also partnered with sophomore Ryann Foster to defeat TCU’s Mia King and Alexis Pereira, 8-6. The win marked the pair’s third doubles win of the year, and the team will take on Baylor’s Blair Shankle and Elizabeth Profit Saturday at noon CT. Golovin will face off against UNLV’s Paola Artiga in the semifinal of singles at 1 p.m. CT

In other singles action, Skylar Holloway fell to No. 114 Zoe Katz of UNC 3-6, 3-6. Foster also fell in three sets to Baylor’s Elizabeth Profit 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.
