BATON ROUGE – The Maui Jim Maui Invitational announced the Championship Round field for the 2017 tournament and the LSU Tigers will be back in the field for the fourth time.
The Championship Round of the 34th edition of the tournament will be held Nov. 20-22, 2017, on the island of Maui at the well-known Lahaina Civic Center.
Joining LSU and host Chaminade at the tournament are California, Marquette, Michigan, Notre Dame, VCU and Wichita State.
“Year after year, the Maui Jim Maui Invitational showcases the nation’s best players and coaches, and the 2017 field will continue that tradition,” said Tournament Chairman and longtime former coach Dave Odom. “These brand-name programs and rising powerhouse teams will create a special environment at the Lahaina Civic Center. We are excited to welcome them and their fans to Maui in 2017.”
Since the inception of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in 1984, 108 schools representing 28 conferences and 40 states have competed in the event.
LSU’s previous appearances in the tournament have come in 1992 and 1996 under Coach Dale Brown and 2007 under Coach John Brady. The 2007 event was LSU’s last visit to the state of Hawaii.
