BATON ROUGE, LA-The LSU beach volleyball team will kick off their third season of competition this weekend as the team travels to Cartersville, Georgia for the second annual Collegiate Sand Clash.
The Lady Tigers are set to compete against Georgia State, North Florida, Spring Hill, Stetson and UNC Wilmington.
“Every year it’s a huge opportunity for us to get some competition in the fall,” said coach Russell Brock. “We’ve got several returning that contributed last year, but they were still young. A lot of our returning starters are sophomores. To get them to compete against other programs is important, and we’ve had a great fall training, but there is nothing to mimic the gameday experience that we need to participate in.”
LSU will play four freshmen in six of the pairs including Jeni Clark, Ashley Allmer, Addison Hoven and Megan Davenport.
“I’m looking forward to seeing them all play,” said coach Brock. “I think they’ve all been really impressive, and it’ll be great for them to see where they are when they match up against people that they’ll eventually see next spring.”
