Notes on the Tigers
LSU returns to action with two matches this weekend, hosting the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide this Friday and Sunday inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center… The Tigers host the Bulldogs at 7 p.m. on Friday, with the match being streamed live on SEC Netwok+ with Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard… Sunday’s match against Alabama will be televised on the SEC Network with commentators Sam Gore and Dain Blanton at 2 p.m… The Tigers are 7-9 on the season and 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference, picking up play after more than a week off after their win over the Tennessee Volunteers last Wednesday in four sets… LSU hit .255 in the match, the team’s highest attacking percentage in a contest this season… The Tigers have taken the first set in each of the group’s last four matches and holds a 3-1 record when doing so… LSU is 6-2 when winning the opening set this season… The Vols hit .266 as a team over LSU, as it was just the second time this season that the Tigers have won a match when being outhit… LSU finished with 11 blocks in the victory, the team’s seventh match with at least 10 blocks in a contest… The Tigers are averaging 2.14 blocks per set overall on the season and 2.41 in league matches… Freshman Toni Rodriguez led the team in kills for the third time this season, hitting a season-high .262 with 15 kills to lead the team… Gina Tillis earned her third consecutive double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs and tying her career high with two service aces… Senior Cati Leak earned her eighth double-double of the season and her first since September with 14 kills and 12 digs to go along with her three blocks… Cheyenne Wood earned her seventh match this season with over 20 assists with 28, while adding five digs and two kills… Katie Lindelow earned the start for the first time this season as the team’s libero, leading the team in digs for the second time this season with 16 against Tennessee… Emily Ehrle led all players with five blocks in the match, including two on the solo end as she leads the team with nine solo blocks.
