Arias, Daigle Selected for Inaugural Oracle Event

BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s tennis duo Boris Arias and Jordan Daigle were named to the field of eight doubles teams Tuesday in the inaugural Oracle/ITA Masters tournament.

The Oracle/ITA Masters will take place Sept. 18-20 at the Malibu Racquet Club in Malibu, Calif., and tournament partner Pepperdine University.

“Oracle is going to be a great partnership for college tennis, first of all, and they’re advancing college tennis as a sport so we are very honored that our guys were selected,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said.

Arias and Daigle earned All-America status in 2014-15 after their performance in the NCAA Individual Championships when they advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA doubles tournament.

Arias and Daigle combined to finish 17-10 last season, including seven wins over ranked opponents, and they ended the season ranked No. 12 in the ITA national standings.

“The fact that they’re playing such a high level so early will certainly get them a jump start on the intensity of the fall,” Brown said. “It was due to their play last year and how well they did during the year and the NCAA tournament. They are looking to get this year off to a good start, and they’ll have a good opportunity with the level of competition.”

Sixteen of the top returning Division I men’s and women’s singles players will compete, along with eight outstanding men’s and women’s doubles teams. Each participant is guaranteed two matches.

Tournament pairings for all four draws will be announced in the coming weeks.
