Volleyball Picked Sixth in SEC Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a vote of the league’s head coaches, the LSU volleyball team was picked to finish sixth as the Southeastern Conference released its preseason poll and preseason all-conference teams Thursday morning.

The Tigers garnered 85 total points in the release, three points behind Arkansas in fifth and a point ahead of Missouri in seventh. Last season LSU was picked to finish ninth, ending the year placing third for the first time in the division-less era for the conference in volleyball.

2015 Schedule

LSU returns five starters and 10 total letterwinners from a team that went 20-9 last season and 14-4 in the SEC. The Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year in 2014, advancing to the second round of the tournament for the second straight season.

The Florida Gators were tabbed to win the regular season title, garnering 12 of a possible 13 first-place votes, with Alabama getting the other as they were picked to finish second. Kentucky and Texas A&M were picked to finish third and fourth, respectively. Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Tennessee round out the poll, as Vanderbilt do not sponsor volleyball.
