BATON ROUGE – After reporting to campus Tuesday morning for the start of preseason training, members of the LSU Soccer program began preparations for the start of the 2015 season in just over two weeks with two separate training sessions under sunny skies Wednesday as they set their sights on their season opener at Oregon on Aug. 21.
The Tigers and Ducks will kick off the fall season at 9 p.m. CT at Pape Field in Eugene on the night of Friday, Aug. 21, in the first live event broadcast on the Pac-12 Network of the 2015-16 athletic season.
Following their arrival in Baton Rouge on Tuesday morning, the Tigers met with advisors from the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes and compliance office while also undergoing drug-testing education to officially begin their preparations for the 2015 season. They also joined together for their first team dinner of preseason to wrap up their first day together.
The Tigers then took to the training fields for the first time this preseason on Wednesday morning as they followed early fitness testing with a series of five-a-side games in a brief 45-minute training session under hot and humid conditions in Baton Rouge. They returned for another round of eight-a-side matches in evening training after meeting with Assistant Director for Sports Nutrition Lauren Silvio.
With their first two days of preseason training in the books and their preparations well underway for the start of the 2015 season, the Tigers will return to the practice fields on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the only scheduled training session on the day.
