BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Caldwell and her staff participated in the “Mommy & Me” event sponsored by Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Monday morning at the Mall of Louisiana.

Caldwell and staff set up a little tikes basketball goal for children to shoot and play, and the staff, along with the LSU Marketing & Promotions office, gave out keychains, bags and other collectibles to all the participants in the event.

“This has been such an unbelievable experience here at the Mall of Louisiana and partnering with Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital,” Caldwell said. “You have an organization and event that wants to promote health and wellness, and as the LSU women’s basketball program we obviously want to train our athletes to be the best they can be.

“Being a mom myself, it’s great to see all the moms come out with their kids and get a taste of what it means to be healthy. There are so many great stations set up here that promote this wonderful event.”

The Mommy & Me event is billed as a fun morning of health and wellness activities, games, giveaways, prizes and free carousel rides.

LSU has collected four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances highlighted by a pair of NCAA Sweet 16 trips under Caldwell. The Lady Tigers also have secured a trio of 20-plus win seasons and have reached at least 10 SEC victories three times with Caldwell at the helm.
