Cox to Offer Free WiFi During CWS

BATON ROUGE – With thousands of college baseball fans expected to travel to Omaha in the next week, Cox Communications today announced that it will open its nearly 550 WiFi hotspots throughout the Omaha community, free of charge, during the College World Series.

The WiFi hotspots currently available to Cox Preferred and High Speed Internet customers only will now be available for use by everyone, regardless of whether or not they are a Cox customer. Cox’s “Free WiFi Week” will run from June 12 -24, the entire College World Series, and is designed to allow fans from across the nation to stay connected during their Omaha visit.

“We launched our WiFi hotspots during last year’s College World Series and had a tremendous response,” said Cox Omaha Market Vice President, Kim Rowell. “We are honored this year to extend the service to the entire Omaha community and all our out-of-town guests who are visiting for this legendary annual baseball event.”

“This is great news for Louisiana’s college baseball fans, who are planning to travel to Omaha for the College World Series,” added Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and region manager of Cox’s Southeast Region. “Cox recognizes that staying connected has become a vitally important part of our daily lives and it is wonderful that our company is extending a warm ‘Cox Welcome to Omaha’ to the players and coaches, their families, and their fans.”
