WACO, Texas – LSU sophomore Jordan Daigle and junior Boris Arias fell to Michigan State’s No.18 Harry Jadun and Patrick Mullane in a 6-3, 6-4 loss Saturday in the NCAA Double’s Championship quarterfinals.
Arias and Daigle struggled to find their flow in an indoor match against the Spartans.
“Playing indoors has been a little bit different than what we’ve been doing the last couple of days and I’m not real sure what the difference was,” Coach Brown said. “We had a couple of long matches the last couple of days and I think we were able to work ourselves into those.”
Although the duo was able to come from behind in the previous two matches, Saturday’s battle against Michigan State proved to be a challenge.
“I felt like we were always an inch off or a step away. I felt like we were never really comfortable. I thought we gave ourselves opportunities even though we weren’t playing great today and unfortunately things didn’t go our way,” said Daigle.
As the season comes to an end, the pair will finish with a 21-10 record and are looking forward to both returning next season and playing in the new tennis facility.
“I think it’s great that they both have another year to come back and build on this. They should finish ranked in the top eight or so and probably one of the top four or five teams returning next year,” Coach Brown said.
