BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU right-hander Alex Lange on Monday was named SEC Freshman of the Week by the league office.
The honor marked Lange’s third SEC Freshman of the Week designation this season.
Lange, a native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., allowed just one run on two hits in seven innings on Saturday, as LSU posted an 8-2 win over No. 21 Missouri. Lange recorded two walks and eight strikeouts and improved to 9-0 on the year. He lowered his cumulative ERA to 2.13 while increasing his strikeouts total to 82 in 76 innings.
Lange was named last week to the 30-man watch list for the 2015 Golden Spikes Award, presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding amateur baseball player.
