Simmons Helps East to McDonald’s All-Star Win

BATON ROUGE – LSU signee Ben Simmons from Montverde (Fla.) Academy helped the East All-Stars to a 111-91 win over the West Wednesday night in the 38th McDonald’s All-Star Game at the United Center in Chicago.

Simmons had seven points, a game-high 10 rebounds and three assists.

He was interviewed by ESPN prior to the start of the game and the subject of a halftime feature as the 2015 Prep Player of the Year.

Now Simmons attention quickly turns to the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Championship event that begins today in the New York area. Eight top boys’ teams are competing as Montverde tries to defend their 2013 and 2014 national titles. The 28-1 team is the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Their quarterfinal match will be at 3 p.m. CT today (ESPNU) against No. 7 seed Greensboro (NC) Day School (33-2).

The semifinal games are on Friday (ESPNU) and the championship game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT start on ESPN from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
