BATON ROUGE – LSU sophomore forward Jarell Martin who led the team in scoring and was second in rebounds during the 2014-15 season, was named honorable mention All-American on the Associated Press media team announced late Monday.
Martin averaged 16.9 points per game and 9.2 rebounds finishing third in the Southeastern Conference in both scoring and rebounding. Martin averaged 35.1 minutes per game and made 202-of-397 field goals or 50.9 percent. He also made a team high 140 free throws. He was third in the league in field goal percentage.
The Baton Rouge native, who has already declared for the 2015 NBA draft, finished the season with eight double figure scoring games and five double doubles in that time. Martin had 28 double figure scoring games and 15 double doubles, second most for the season in the SEC.
The Tigers finished the 2014-15 season with a 22-11 record, tying for third in the SEC with an 11-7 mark. LSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
