STARKVILLE, Miss. — The No. 41 LSU women’s tennis team (14-7, 4-4 SEC) concludes the weekend in Mississippi against No. 35 Mississippi State at 1 p.m. Sunday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
“We’re excited to continue this road trip after the big win yesterday,” head coach Julia Sell said. “Sunday will be another tough match in an extremely difficult environment to play in. We just have to continue to stay focused.”
The Lady Tigers head into Starkville on a three-match winning streak and huge wins over Auburn and Ole Miss. LSU defeated the 21st-ranked Rebels on Friday behind strong performances from the bottom half of the lineup in Noel Scott, Ella Taylor and Skylar Holloway.
No. 69 Skylar Kuykendall is on a seven-match winning streak with four victories against ranked opponents. Prior to her win streak, Kuykendall was 0-4 against ranked opponents. The junior is 18-3 this season and 6-2 in Southeastern Conference play.
No. 39 Joana Vale Costa will play on court one for the Lady Tigers. The sophomore is 10-6 and 4-3 in conference play this season.
Mississippi State boasts three singles players in this week’s ITA ranking. Jasmine Lee leads the way for the Bulldogs at 56th. Lee is 13-2 and 6-2 in SEC play this season. Georgiana Frantova is ranked 81st and is 12-6 in dual meets this season. Finally, Louise Ronaldson is ranked 124th with an 8-5 mark.
LSU leads the all-time series over Mississippi State, 28-10, dating back to 1977. The Lady Tigers have won four out of the last five over the Bulldogs.
