BATON ROUGE, La. — The No. 49 LSU women’s tennis team (11-7, 2-4 SEC) takes on No. 37 Auburn (11-7, 1-5 SEC) at 11 a.m. CT Sunday at W.T. ‘Dub Robinson Stadium. The match marks the 10th ranked team the Lady Tigers have faced off against this season.
“My message to the girls yesterday was that we were right there against a top-10 team,” head coach Julia Sell said. “We’re going to work on minimizing the mental lapses and improve. It’s now about taking it one step further. If we keep improving from match to match then I’ll be happy.
Auburn’s Pleun Burgmans is ranked No. 73 in the singles poll. Burgmans along with Emily Flickinger are ranked No. 6 in the country in doubles this season. The duo is 8-4 and 3-1 in the SEC this season on court one.
The Lady Tigers feature No. 40 Joana Vale Costa and No. 115 Skylar Kuykendall. Both Vale Costa and Kuykendall put points on the board in LSU’s loss to No.9 Alabama Friday. Vale Costa defeated No. 26 Erin Routliffe on court one and Kuykendall defeated No. 54 Danielle Spielmann on court two.
LSU leads the all-time series, 26-11, with the Lady Tigers winning nine of the last 12 matches.
