Inaugural CCACSA Tutor Conference Set For April 18

BATON ROUGE, La. – On Sat. April 18, the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes will host its 2015 CCACSA Tutor Conference.

The Academic Center invites all tutors and tutoring professionals to this one-day “drive-in” professional development event. The day consists of the opportunity to network and gain information in order to enhance their tutoring and learning tactics.

Dorothy Kemp, Tutorial Coordinator and Learning Specialist at the CCACSA, is excited about hosting the inaugural Tutor Conference. “It is our hope that participants are able to come together to network and gain valuable skills that will subsequently be used to advance the learning of the students they serve,” Kemp said.

The conference topics may include: best practices in peer tutoring, learning techniques, mentoring/tutoring target population, uses of technology or online tutoring, conflict management, student learning practices, and many more.

There are also opportunities to present presentations of various topics that target new, mid-career and seasoned professionals; using multimedia approaches like audio and video, delivering best practices using approaches for different types of learners.

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology teams, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
