Tigers Begin GameDay

PITTSBURGH – The LSU men’s basketball team has begun their game day with a mid-morning shoot around at the Consol Energy Center.

Game Preview

Each of the teams is allowed 20 minutes to shoot on game day prior to today’s first game at 11:15 a.m. CT when Notre Dame and Northeastern start the second round across the nation.

LSU players used its 20 minutes to shoot on their own on the floor and then concluded with about 10 minutes of shooting drills divided into post and perimeter groups.

The Tigers then returned to their hotel across the street from the venue and several players reported to Ericka Lavender for study hall before settling in for tonight’s 8:20 p.m. CT game with NC State.

The No. 8 vs. No. 9 game will be televised by TBS and broadcast on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network and is the final game of the day in Pittsburgh. The third round games here are held on Saturday. The winner of LSU-NC State meets the winner of the Villanova-Lafayette game and that 1-16 game is set to begin at 5:50 p.m. CT and that game will also be televised on TBS.

LSU’s NCAA Tournament History, Records

Already as LSU returned to its hotel, activity around the area was picking up with fans decked out in the colors of those in the afternoon session were beginning to gather around the Center and ticket “brokers” were lining the street corner trying to buy and sell tickets for the games.

The home of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins has been transformed into a nice venue for the tournament games in the traditional NCAA black and blue with the court look that you see at venues across the country the next few weeks on the CBS/Turner broadcasts.
