BATON ROUGE – LSU junior guard Danielle Ballard picked up All-SEC Second-Team honors as announced by the Associated Press.
Ballard has amassed a team-leading 14.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.8 assists per game. She was the only player to rank among the SEC’s Top 10 in four of the five major statistical categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) during conference play.
Ballard has collected double figures in 13 of her last 14 outings highlighted by four 20-plus point performances. Most recently, she registered 22 points and 10 rebounds to claim her fifth double-double of the season versus No. 18 Texas A&M during LSU’s quarterfinal victory at the SEC Tournament.
Ballard has already surpassed 500 career rebounds and heads into NCAA Tournament action 40 points away of reaching 1,000 career points. She would become the 19th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
LSU faces No. 25 South Florida during the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. CT from the USF Sun Dome, and the game will be televised by ESPN2. The telecast also will be available on www.WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.
The LSU Sports Radio Network will carry the game on its flagship station Talk 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge. Patrick Wright, the voice of the Lady Tigers, will call the action.
