BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 33 LSU men’s tennis team (11-3, 2-2 SEC) returns to the friendly confines of W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium on Sunday where they will take on No. 11 Vanderbilt (13-3, 3-1 SEC) at noon CT before taking on New Orleans at 5.
After opening Southeastern Conference play 2-0 for the first time since 1998, the Tigers fell to 2-2 on the season. Head coach Jeff Brown said that the SEC is a loaded conference and his team remains confident.
“With such highly ranked teams throughout the SEC it is very important that we isolate every match,” Brown said. “We are squarely focused on Vanderbilt until that match is over.”
The Commodores are enjoying a productive season and will pose several challenges for the Tigers across the lineup. Vanderbilt sports the No. 1 ranked doubles team with senior Gonzales Austin and junior Rhys Johnson. Austin is also ranked tenth in singles.
The LSU team of junior Boris Arias and sophomore Jordan Daigle, ranked 18, will be key in matching up with the doubles prowess of Vanderbilt.
“Each week is an opportunity to play a highly-ranked team and this week is no different,” Brown said.
The Tigers are currently undefeated at home with a perfect 10-0 record.
