BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU senior third baseman Conner Hale was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week Monday by the league office.
Hale, a product of New Port Richey, Fla., helped lead top-ranked LSU to three straight wins in the Houston College Classic over No. 8 Houston, Baylor and Nebraska, batting .400 (4-for-10) with one double, one homer, five RBI and two runs scored.
Hale, who was named to the Houston College Classic All-Tournament team, also extended his hitting streak to 16 games, as he has hit safely in each of the Tigers’ 16 games this season. For the entire week, including LSU wins over Stephen F. Austin and Grambling, Hale produced two doubles, one triple, one homer and seven RBI.
Hale is hitting .338 (22-for-65) on the year with six doubles, one triple, one homer, 15 RBI and 11 runs.
