Men’s Basketball’s Odo Named to SEC Service Team

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU senior basketball player John Odo has been named to the Southeastern Conference annual Community Service Team for men’s basketball for the 2014-15 season.

The team is a continuing effort of the league and its member schools to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.

This marks the 17th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball as well as for women’s basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.

Odo, from Lagos, Nigeria, was involved in Move-In Day where athletes from various sports helped move in freshman students at LSU to the dorms. He represented LSU at the Community Art Project in the Gardere Neighborhood of Baton Rouge and served as recess volunteer at University Terrace Elementary on multiple occasions.

He was also the basketball representative for Big Buddy Day of the Mentor at LSU and was part of the basketball team’s participation in the annual Halloween Boozar, Thanksgiving with the Tigers and annual visit to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital wing during the Christmas holidays.

The Tigers next play on Friday afternoon in the second quarterfinal game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Nashville. Follow the Tigers trip to Nashville on www.Facebook.com/LSUBasketball and on Twitter and Instagram @LSUBasketball and on the LSU Basketball I-Pad App.
