TUCSON, Ariz. — The LSU sand volleyball team will begin its second full season by traveling to Arizona this weekend to compete in the Arizona Invitational.

The Tigers open the tournament with three matches at the Arizona Courts in Tucson, taking on Tulane and Arizona State at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT on Friday, while also competing against Arizona on Saturday at 12 p.m.

LSU will then cap off the tournament with two matches on Sunday in Phoenix against Grand Canyon and New Mexico at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the GCU Courts.

“Going into it, we always have high expectations. We’ve done everything we can to play well this weekend,” said head coach Russell Brock. “We’re going to use this tournament to compete, be successful and train. Our trips are business trips. We’re going to get work done.”

The team will compete in pairs, and the matches will be a best of three series with the winner being the first to reach 21 points in each match.

LSU is led by returning players Emma Hiller and Victoria Boraski, as well as freshman Mandi Orellana, who recently competed for Guatemala in the NORCECA Continental Cup in Nicaragua.
