BATON ROUGE, La. — The No. 37 LSU women’s tennis team (3-1) returns home from a successful ITA Kickoff Weekend to host Northwestern State and Jackson State Saturday at W.T. ‘Dub’ Robinson Stadium.
“We learned a lot from our matches against Boston College and North Carolina,” head coach Julia S. Sell said. “That’s why you go and the play the top teams. We’ve been working really hard on a few things this week so I want to see them implement that this weekend.”
The first match against Northwestern State begins at 10 a.m. and the Lady Tigers return to the court at 4 p.m. to face Jackson State.
LSU left Chapel Hill, North Carolina with a win over No. 59 Boston College. After dropping the doubles point and the top two courts, LSU stormed back to win 4-3. Junior Ella Taylor clinched the match on court five 7-6, (7-1), 7-5.
LSU holds a 19-1 record over Northwestern State all-time. This will be the only the second meeting between LSU and Jackson State. The two teams competed for the first time last season with LSU grabbing the 4-0 win.
Fans will receive a free LSU women’s tennis koozie for attending the match and there will be a bounce house for all kids next to the stadium. The LSU men’s tennis team will also take to the courts against Purdue following the women’s match against Northwestern State.
