BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s basketball signee Ben Simmons of Montverde Academy was named to the East squad for the 2015 McDonald’s All-American game.
The nationally televised event will be held April 1, 2015, at Chicago’s United Center.

Simmons becomes the 16th McDonald’s All-American to at least play part of their college career at LSU since 1984 joining Jarell Martin (2013), Johnny O’Bryant III (2011), Tasmin Mitchell (2005), Glen Davis (2004), Brandon Bass (2003), Stromile Swift (1998), Sylvester Ford (1993), Ronnie Henderson (1993), Randy Livingston (1993), Duane Spencer (1992), Jamie Brandon (1990), Shaquille O’Neal (1989), Stanley Roberts (1988), Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson-1988) and John Williams (1984.)
Montverde is 23-1 and ranked in the top 5 in all the major high school polls and Simmons remains the No. 1 prep player on ESPNU’s Top 100 players for 2015.
