Five Former Tigers to Play for Super Bowl Berth

BATON ROUGE – Five former LSU football players will be in action this weekend when the Conference Championship round of the NFL playoffs takes place on Sunday.

LSU is guaranteed to have at least two active players in this year’s Super Bowl and the Tiger program is assured of having a Super Bowl Champion. The Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, Feb. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

The list of former Tigers who will be active this weekend include: wide receiver Brandon LaFell (Patriots), cornerback Tharold Simon (Seahawks), quarterback Matt Flynn (Packers), defensive end Ricky-Jean Francois (Colts), and safety Laron Landry (Colts).

The Seahawks host the Packers at 2:05 p.m. CT on Sunday in a game televised by FOX, while CBS will broadcast the Colts at Patriots contest at 5:45 CT on Sunday.

The other former Tiger with ties to this weekend’s NFL Playoff game is running back Stevan Ridely, who was the starting running back for the Patriots before a knee injury ended his season back in early October.
