‘Gymnastics 101’ Free Showcase Set for Dec. 17

BATON ROUGE – For the second straight year the LSU gymnastics team will give fans an early inside look at the Tigers by hosting the Gymnastics 101 showcase event on Dec. 17 in the Maravich Center.

Gymnastics 101 will begin at 7 p.m., and the Maravich Center will open to the public at 5:30. Admission is free.

The event serves as an exhibition meet because the team will run through lineups and perform routines on all four events beginning on vault and rotating to bars, beam and floor. Judges will score the performances as they would in a regular-season competition.

Gym 101 will not only be fun, but it will also be insightful and educational. Throughout the event, head coach D-D Breaux, associate head coach Jay Clark and assistant coach Bob Moore will provide insight and commentary about the gymnasts’ routines.

After the event the Tigers will meet and greet fans in attendance.

LSU is gearing up for the 2015 season after completing the best season in school history in 2014. The Tigers placed third at the NCAA Championships and qualified for the NCAA Super Six for the fourth time in the last seven seasons.

The Tigers return seven All-Americans and 11 letterwinners from last year’s squad, and LSU is primed for another dynamic season in 2015.

Season tickets are on sale at $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.LSUtix.net, calling the LSU Athletics Ticket Office at 225-578-2184 or in person on the first floor of the Moran Family Center for Athletic Administration on campus.

After Gymnastics 101 on Dec. 17, LSU will prepare for the season opener against Iowa on Jan. 9 inside the Maravich Center.
