Collins, Neighbors Accept Senior Bowl Invitations

BATON ROUGE – LSU offensive tackle La’el Collins and fullback Connor Neighbors have officially accepted an invitation to take part in the Reese’s Senior Bowl, the all-star game announced on Monday.

The addition of Collins and Neighbors runs the total number of accepted invitations to the Senior Bowl, which serves as the premier all-star game for college seniors, to 86.

The annual Senior Bowl will kickoff at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. The game will be televised on the NFL Network.

Collins and Neighbors were recently named as LSU’s offensive most valuable players as they helped pave the way for a Tiger running game that averaged 219 yards a contest.

Collins, a second team All-America selection by USA Today, was named the recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy which is presented annually to the top offensive lineman in the Southeastern Conference. Collins also earned first team All-SEC recognition from both the SEC Coaches poll as well as the Associated Press.

Collins, a native of Baton Rouge, is a three-year starter for the Tigers and he led all LSU offensive linemen in both snaps (792) and knockdowns (84.5) this year.

Neighbors was a two-year starter at fullback for LSU as he established himself as one of the top blocking backs in college football. Neighbors becomes the third member of his family to accept an invitation to the Senior Bowl, joining his dad Wes Neighbors who played in the game in 1987 and his grandfather Billy Neighbors who appeared in the contest in 1962.

With the addition of Collins and Neighbors, LSU has had 110 players invited to play in the Senior Bowl.
